Denial is not just a river in Egypt.
I must have known, I must have seen.
I wanted to float on, psychedelic pink.
In exile from my previous state,
I forced myself to regulate.
I unfurled my wings and tried to fly.
A token gesture for my heart.
An impotent move to reassure.
Long awaited treasure given me,
missing the grail, the ruby grail.
My fruitless search draws to a halt.
Panic sets in, I’m all alone.
I knew where it was all along.
The scarlet chalice from which I wanted to drink,
never left the table of the interrupted feast.
Denial is not just a river in Egypt.
I must have known, I must have seen.
I floated on, psychedelic pink.
I ignored the whisperings in my mind,
I should have known that treasure was never mine.
